Rejuran, Profhilo, and a range of other injectable skin boosters have become popular aesthetic treatments in Malaysia. Rejuran (polynucleotide / PDRN) treatments typically cost between RM 800 and RM 2,500 per session. Profhilo typically costs between RM 1,200 and RM 2,800 per session. Skin booster injectables range broadly from RM 600 to RM 3,000 per session depending on the product, the clinic, and the number of injection points. These are indicative ranges only, not a quote. Confirm pricing directly with the clinic.
This article explains what these treatments are, how they differ from each other, what drives cost, and the safety checks to run before booking any injectable treatment in Malaysia.
What skin boosters are and how they differ from fillers
Skin boosters are injectable products designed to improve overall skin quality, including hydration, firmness, fine texture, and radiance. Unlike volumising dermal fillers, most skin boosters are not intended to add structural volume or change facial contours. Their goal is to deliver active ingredients deep into the dermis to stimulate or support the skin’s own repair and hydration mechanisms.
Three products currently with significant market presence in Malaysia:
Rejuran (PDRN / Polynucleotides)
Rejuran is a product line originally developed in South Korea, based on polynucleotide (PN) or polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) derived from salmon DNA. PDRN has been studied for its tissue-regenerating properties. In aesthetic medicine, Rejuran is injected in small quantities across the face using a papule or threading technique to improve skin texture, fine lines, acne scarring, and overall skin quality. Results develop over several weeks as skin regeneration occurs.
Rejuran Healer (for general skin quality), Rejuran S (for scars), and Rejuran I (for the eye area) are variants within the same product line.
Profhilo
Profhilo (by IBSA, Italy) is an injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) product, but it is formulated differently from conventional HA fillers. Profhilo uses a patented NAHYCO technology that creates a hybrid cooperative HA complex with high molecular weight and low molecular weight HA. Rather than adding volume, Profhilo diffuses through the tissue after injection, acting as a “bio-remodelling” agent that stimulates collagen, elastin, and adipocyte stem cells in the dermis.
Profhilo is typically administered at five specific Bio Aesthetic Points (BAP) on each side of the face. Most protocols recommend two sessions one month apart, followed by maintenance sessions every six months.
Other hyaluronic acid skin boosters
A range of other injectable HA skin boosters are available in Malaysia, including Juvederm Volite (Allergan/AbbVie), Restylane Vital (Galderma), Teosyal Redensity, and several other brands. These deliver hyaluronic acid to the mid-dermis to improve skin hydration, smoothness, and elasticity.
Why the price difference matters less than the product
All injectable products used legally in Malaysia must be registered with the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA), an agency under the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM). Registered products carry an MAL registration number on the packaging.
Before any injectable session, ask to see the product packaging and confirm the NPRA registration number. Unregistered or counterfeit injectable products carry genuine health risks including infection, tissue damage, and unpredictable reactions. NPRA registration is a minimum baseline for product safety.
Ask the clinic to confirm the product brand and country of manufacture. If a quoted price is notably lower than the indicative ranges above, it warrants a direct question about the product used and its registration status.

What drives the price difference between clinics
Product authenticity and registration: As above, registered products have supply chain and quality control costs. Be cautious of very low prices.
Injection technique and session time: Rejuran applied with papule technique across the full face takes longer and requires more precision than a basic superficial injection. Session time reflects operator skill.
Doctor seniority and training: A doctor with postgraduate aesthetic medicine training or a dermatologist with MMC specialist registration can command higher fees. For skin concerns that overlap with medical dermatology (such as acne scarring, inflammatory skin conditions, or periorbital concerns), a dermatologist’s assessment may be clinically valuable beyond the injectable treatment itself.
Volume delivered: Some skin booster protocols vary the number of vials or injection points. Confirm what volume is included in the quoted price.
Clinic location and overhead: Clinics in premium locations carry higher overhead, which is reflected in pricing.
Credentials to verify before booking
Injectable skin boosters carry the same credential requirements as all aesthetic injectables in Malaysia.
MMC registration: Every practising doctor in Malaysia must hold current registration with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC). Verify the treating doctor’s MMC registration using the MMC practitioner search tool.
KKM Letter of Credentialing and Privileging (LCP): KKM requires doctors performing injectable procedures to hold a valid LCP for the specific treatment. Ask the clinic directly: “Does Dr [Name] hold a valid LCP from KKM for injectable skin boosters?” A legitimate clinic can confirm this and provide the certificate on request.
Facility registration: The clinic premises must be registered with KKM under the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998 (Akta 586). You can verify facility registration at the MOH medical practice portal.
For skin concerns that have a medical dermatology dimension, such as active acne, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or complex scarring, a consultation with a specialist dermatologist provides a clinical baseline before committing to injectable treatments. Browse verified clinics in our aesthetic clinics directory at /clinics/aesthetic-clinics or our dermatology clinics directory at /clinics/dermatology.
What good informed consent looks like for skin boosters
Before any injectable procedure, a responsible clinic provides written informed consent covering the product to be used (brand, concentration, volume), the injection technique and areas, expected results and session count, risks and side effects including bruising, swelling, papule formation, infection, and the rare risk of intravascular injection, and what to do if you experience unexpected symptoms after leaving the clinic. The Malaysian Medical Council’s professional ethics guidelines require informed consent for all procedures.
Frequently asked questions
Are Rejuran and Profhilo the same thing? No. Rejuran is PDRN-based (polynucleotides) and targets skin regeneration and repair. Profhilo is a high-concentration HA product designed to bio-remodel the dermis. They work through different mechanisms and are sometimes used together in a combined protocol.
Can I use skin boosters if I have active acne? Active inflammatory acne in the treatment area is generally a contraindication. A dermatologist or aesthetic doctor should assess your skin before any injectable treatment if acne is a concern.
How long do results last? Rejuran results are typically assessed after a course of three to four sessions; skin quality improvements can last six to twelve months with maintenance. Profhilo results typically last six months per treatment cycle.
Is there downtime? Expect mild redness, swelling, and small injection papules for 24 to 72 hours. Bruising is possible. Full physical activities and makeup are typically resumed after 24 hours, but confirm post-treatment instructions with your doctor.
